Town dumps and transfer stations, checked at the source
Where you can take trash, furniture, appliances, yard waste and construction debris, when the site is open, what it costs, and whether you need to be a resident. Every fact links to the city, county or parish website (or the operator's own site) and shows when we last checked it. If they don't publish something, we say "Not published" instead of guessing.

Dump and transfer station FAQ
Can I use a dump or transfer station outside my town?
Often not for free. Most public drop-off centers are for residents who pay for local trash service. Houston, for example, asks for a Texas ID plus a City of Houston utility bill or lease with the same address before it takes bulk or tree waste.

What do I need to bring to prove residency?
Usually a photo ID, and sometimes a utility bill. Phoenix requires your city services (water) bill and a photo ID with a matching name or address for its free monthly load. San Antonio wants a recent CPS Energy bill showing the environmental fee.

How much does it cost to take a load to the dump?
It depends on the place. Some resident drop-off centers are free. Others charge by weight: Cobb County's transfer station charges county residents $14 for the first 400 pounds, then 3 cents a pound. Each area page lists the official fees, or says "Not published" when the operator doesn't post them.

Can I bring a trailer or a rental truck?
Check first. Many sites limit trailer size and turn away box trucks. Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, accepts single-axle trailers 10 ft or shorter at its drop-off sites, bans dump trailers, and sends rented box trucks to a landfill.

What can鈥檛 I take to the dump?
Household hazardous waste (paint, chemicals, fuel) is almost always banned at regular drop-off sites and goes to a separate collection. Many sites also refuse tires over a set limit, TVs, concrete or dirt. Each area page lists what the official source says is and isn't accepted.
Where does this information come from?
Only from official sources: city, county or parish government websites, or the facility operator's own website. We never copy from other dump directories or review sites. Every fact shows its source and the date we checked it, and we write "Not published" instead of guessing.
